HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HOME CENTER
Habitat for Humanity San Antonio focuses on uniting people by constructing modest, decent, and affordable homes for hardworking families in need. Operating without interest or profit, they aim to provide a helping hand to those in search of a stable home. Additionally, the Habitat Home Center offers discounted prices on new and gently used residential furniture, decor, building materials, and more to the public. Through their efforts in the San Antonio area, they not only build homes but also foster communities and inspire hope.
What is the estimated time frame from when a family applies to when the new build is move-in ready?
Typically families can expect to move in around 6-9 months, depending on the build schedule, but we build year-round with the majority of our building on Fridays and Saturdays.
Who is eligible for a Habitat home?
Habitat selects Bexar County & Guadalupe County residents who are first-time homebuyers earning 30-80% of the Area Median Income (AMI), and select families who need modest and affordable housing, can pay a 0% interest mortgage, and are eager to partner with Habitat.
What can attendees expect to see from Habitat at San Antonio Home + Garden Show?
Attendees can expect amazing things from Habitat at this year’s spring show! We’ll have a booth that features information about our three San Antonio stores and our Seguin Store, as well as information regarding donations and family services.
What kind of home builds does Habitat offer?
We build 3-bedroom homes (1,290 square feet) and 4-bedroom homes (1,296 square feet). Homes cost us approximately $145,000 to build. Homes are financed with a 15-year to 25-year, zero-percent interest loan. Payments from our families are as low as $850 per month (including taxes and insurance).
What services does Habitat’s Family Services provide to first-time family homebuyers?
Our Family Services staff guides families through an extensive application and selection process, and our Family Partner Program emphasizes budgeting, family social services, home maintenance training, conflict resolution, and life skills.
